Intention of workshops                 themes of workshops                  logistics of workshops

Art is an intuitive expression of inner being - a self portrait, a translation of our world.  We are all born with access to this language but somewhere along the way it gets buried deep within.   By engaging the hands and the mind through "object-making" these workshops allow creativity to blossom and unfold into a powerful experience, an enriching experience.

Workshop Themes
-   All workshop themes can be tailored for Personal, Spiritual or Healing Growth
The images below are all student work

Circle of Dreams
Discover your creativity and explore the world of the nighttime dream

The dream is nothing more than a picture our unconscious paints for us each
night through a visual, symbolic language.  Dreams are read and the symbols
embedded in the dream are unearthed.  The discussion of these symbols will
usher us into the intuitive side of the brain, creativity's home.
Various art techniques are used to push us deeper into understanding the gift
 of the dream.

Healing Icons®
Placed within a shadow box, seemingly unrelated everyday objects and images
begin to communicate with us through their own language

Historically, icons have served as a visual link between the spiritual and physical
worlds.  In this workshop, participants will create an object that symbolically relates
to their life's issues.  Reflecting on this icon will facilitate travel into paths of
understanding.

Mandalas
Learn a visual form of contemplative meditation

A mandala is a work of art composed of a sacred circle within a square or rectangle.
Mandalas have been created by many different cultures as a visual means to lead the
mind into introspective meditation or prayer.  This workshop will focus on discovering
and creating your own personal healing mandala.

The Mask of
Change

Create a 3-d mask of your face honoring an aspect of your inner self

T
hroughout time, masks have been worn during rituals to empower an individual
with certain characteristics.  By embellishing a mask of your face with personal
imagery, untapped sides of the persona are revealed and released, allowing
discovery of this hidden world and the regenerative power it holds.
(An additional fee of $15 per student is required to cover the cost of the
 “radiation target masks”.)

Intuitive Collage
Reveal untold stories by creating a series of small collages, visual markers
reflecting the many facets of who we are and who we are becoming.

The psyche speaks in images – the conscious mind in words.  By intuitively
selecting images and juxtaposing them with color and texture, the quiet, inner
voice has has a new medium to speak through.  Learning to trust and listen
to this voice allows access to the greater teacher within us all.  The images
chosen may seem arbitrary, but
through the art of collage, we will discover
our stories in unique and powerful ways.

Sanctuary
Create a place for contemplation, gathering strength & renewing one’s soul.

We are intuitively drawn to certain objects and images in our environment
because of their subtle, symbolic references to our personal lives.  By
learning to pay attention to these “teachers”, we begin to experience the
powerfully uplifting forces that surround us each day. In this workshop,
we will create a small personal shrine where these objects can be honored
and contemplated, allowing us to harvest their timeless wisdom.

Altered Books - transpose an existing book into a unique journal that
will hold the wisdom garnered and revealed through the creative process.

Stories teach us profound lessons about ourselves and our world.  They
connect us to each other: they heal and restore.  Using  the visual language
of collage, painting and printmaking techniques our unearthed stories will
surface, allowing inner resources to unfold into a wellspring of inner knowing.
